Wicklewood Away - 7th Jun

Wicklewood  v Priory -  7th June 2024

Following the recent victory on our travels to Shotesham the reshuffled Priory team went into the match in good spirits on a calm evening as the banks of grey clouds rolled overhead to release their contents further afield.

Wicklewood won the toss and decided to take the jack. The teams shared pre-match goodwill handshakes and between the gathered competitors old friendships were rekindled and new ones begun.

The opening end started playing towards the local long retired left-handed fantail which was clearly visible, locked pointing towards the fading sun.

The green, the longest encountered to-date this season, was fast and appeared daunting to some of the Priory team but provided an advantage to others: Pat Goody had no problems with casting the jack long and bowling to it with ease.

John Moore skipped Sandy and Ken to a comfortable win dropping just two ends and three points helping the Priory team, who won two and lost two rinks, to an overall victory of 68 shots to 49.

The teams retired to the clubhouse where our hosts treated the Priory team with refreshments from the bar and pre-match conversations between the teams were taken-up once again until it was time for home.
