AGE Concern Knock-Out Cup - Round One

Drawn away in the first round to North Elmham King's Head, last season's beaten finalists, the Priory Garden side faced a tough match on a challenging green.

Pat Goody, Karen Smith and, Ivan Howman, on Rink One got off to a slow start and were trailing by twelve shots after the first six ends. The score; Priory Garden two, King's Head fourteen. Fortunes changed as the Priory team 'found the green' and after twelve ends held a one shot lead. Leading by sixteen shots to fifteen. The Priory comeback continued on Rink One as they won three of the remaining four ends and eventually ran out winners by twenty two shots to seventeen.

On Rink Two, Bet Davies, Mike Betts and, Ivan Freedman were involved in a very nip and tuck adventure. After losing the first two ends they were on the scoreboard after the third end with the score at two shots all. The lead then changed hands six times during the next eight ends with the host side leading by one shot after the thirteenth end. The score; Priory Garden eleven shots, King's Head twelve. On the final end Priory made good use of the last bowl of the match to secure six shots and thereby winning by seventeen shots to twelve.

The overall match result of Priory Garden thirty nine shots, North ElhamHam King's Head twenty nine shots, sees the Priory Team progress into the second round where they will welcome Saxlingham Saxon's to Back Lane.
