Internal Leagues
Australian Pairs and Chairman's Block League
Weather Conditions and the use of reserve players
Weather conditions / match results
The Green Keeper and Club Captain are empowered to prohibit play if, in their opinion, the condition of the Green is unsuitable for play. However, this does not cover whether playing conditions are deemed suitable for members to play.
On internal league match-days the League Administrator will take responsibility as to whether matches go ahead and/or whether they need to be abandoned before completion due to weather conditions. Whenever possible they will liaise with the Green Keeper and Club Captain before making a decision.
If matches are postponed due to weather conditions they will be played at a later date agreed between the Blocks and the League Administrators.
If matches are abandoned after start of play, the result will stand if nine or more ends have been completed. If only eight or less ends have been completed when a match is abandoned, the match will be replayed from the start on a date agreed between the Blocks and the League Administrators.
If it is not possible to replay the match before the end of the league competition then the original score will stand.
Use of Reserve Players
Insufficient players at start of a game - Australian Pairs
If both players of a Block fail to turn up then the other Block will be awarded the points.
If a Block is one player short and a reserve is not available the player who is present can, play with two sets of woods or, forfeit the match with the other Block being awarded the points.
Insufficient players at start of a game - Chairman’s Block League
If all players of a Block fail to turn up then the other Block will be awarded the points.
If a Block has two players present they can enlist the services of a reserve or the two players can play with four woods. It is recognised that the latter option will be a match of nine woods against eight with the Block with eight woods paying a forfeit for their failure to present a full turn-out of players.
If a Block has only one player present they may again enlist the services of one reserve and play with four woods each. Again this is recognised as a match of nine woods against eight.
For the Australian Pairs and the Chairman’s Block League the services of only one reserve can be used in a match.
At all times reserves must not be members of other Blocks within the league.
