Great Melton (H) 23rd May

For some reason it was a real struggle to produce a full team of 12 players. However, it proved a very friendly match, far too friendly on our part as we allowed our visitors from Great Melton to win on every rink. The green was fast and somewhat unpredictable after all the dry weather we have been experiencing, and although the sun was shining, the wind was chilly.

Di Gibbins, Ken Vann and Sue Betts had the closest match, losing 14/16; Steve Smith ( a very last-minute recruit), Arthur Newton and Sandy Harding put up a very good performance, not clearly losing until the last end.

The other two teams lost heavily, despite some good play by Derek Dore and John Moore.

Great Melton proved the stronger team, but it was a most enjoyable occasion as many of them are well-known to us as old friends.

The final score was Priory Garden 38, Great Melton 82.
